A black console table with a textured surface, decorated with two large pottery vases, two lit candles, and a small green plant. Above the table hangs an abstract painting with earth tones, and to the right, a large beige ceramic table lamp.

The Artwork

Dan Hobday’s artwork is created to bring warmth, balance and personality into everyday spaces. His approach to wall art is simple: make work that feels calm, considered and easy to live with. The kind of art that doesn’t shout for attention, but quietly pulls a room together.

Whether it’s abstract wall art, modern landscapes, drawings or minimalist compositions, each piece is designed to sit comfortably in real homes. Dan’s work is often used to add texture, soft colour and a sense of movement, helping a space feel finished without feeling overstyled.

A Considered Approach to Framed Art

Dan Hobday’s artwork is typically presented using clean, gallery-style framing that enhances the work rather than competing with it. The focus is always on balance, between the artwork, the frame and the space it sits in.

You’ll find abstract pieces built up through subtle layers, landscape-inspired works with a gentle, contemporary feel, and drawings that bring a quieter, more creative presence to a room. Some pieces are deliberately minimal, others more expressive, but all are created with longevity in mind, art you won’t tire of after a season.

Dan Hobday’s artwork is stocked by a range of online retailers and interior shops.

Styling Wall Art in Your Home

Dan Hobday’s wall art works just as well on its own as it does as part of a wider arrangement. A single large piece can anchor a room, while pairs or small groups of artworks add rhythm and visual interest.

Leaning framed art on shelves, consoles, or sideboards is a relaxed alternative to hanging and suits Dan’s work particularly well. Layering different sizes together creates a natural, lived-in feel and avoids a showroom look.

Every room offers a chance to introduce balance and personality through artwork. Thoughtful placement and scale matter more than filling every wall.

Wall Art Placement. Practical Guidance

What height should wall art be hung?

For most rooms, hang artwork so the centre of the piece sits around 60 inches or 152cm from the floor. This keeps things aligned with eye level and feels natural in most spaces.

How do you hang artwork above furniture?

Leave 4 to 6 inches between the bottom of the frame and the top of the furniture. This keeps the artwork visually connected without making the space feel cramped.

Can multiple pieces be hung together?

Yes. Grouping artwork works best when spacing is consistent, around 2 to 3 inches between frames. Treat the group as one unit when positioning it on the wall.

Does artwork always need to be hung?

No. Leaning artwork against a wall on a shelf, mantel or console creates a more relaxed, layered look and makes it easy to change things over time.

How can wall art feel more refined?

Adding a picture light above the artwork instantly elevates it. Both hardwired and battery powered options work well and give a subtle gallery style finish.
